How to Overcome the Fear of Interviews and Land a Job!

There are many things you can do to manage the stress and fear that goes along with a job interview. If you prepare wisely and remain calm, you will do great! Here are some tips that can help you make an impression in the interview and land the job!

Be prepared:

The most important thing you can do is making sure you are well prepared. Do research about the company, try to think about questions that the interview will ask you, and think about some questions that you can ask them, etc.

Be on time:

Be there on time! Showing up late or walking in completely frazzled doesn’t give the best first impression. Make sure you know where the company is located and how long it will take you to get there. Make time for traffic, detours and other time consumers.

Be calm:

Don’t psych yourself out. Try to stay calm and collected before, during and after the interview. Be appreciative that you got the interview to begin with and let that reflect in your words and attitude. If you are well prepared, you have no reason to fear.

Be confident:

It is important to be confident, but not cocky. Show your talents and past experience and be confident in the way you deliver answers. However, there is a fine line between being confident and being blatantly overly confident. Be aware of how you sound and act. Coming off as an arrogant know-it-all won’t get you anywhere.

Be determined:

Follow up after the interview. If this is a job you really want and you feel you are qualified for it – let it be known. Send a follow up email thanking the interviewer for their time. This is your second chance to ‘pitch yourself’. Restate why you would make a good candidate for the position. You may even want to call if you haven’t heard anything within a week.
